Last night my friend Karyn and I went to the Oakland Art Murmur down on Telegraph Ave in the heart of the city.
It was a great time, there were hundreds of people milling about all up and down the sidewalks and we ran in to some friends, and overall just a great experience.
The Art Murmur closed up shop around 10pm and we stood around shooting the shit for awhile longer and then decided to walk the 6 blocks back to my car.
On the way down Telegraph we ran across a scene where Oakland Police were confronting someone, or a group of someones, in front of a food truck.
We hesitated to see what was going on and then Karyn was just like “let’s get out of here”. So we opted to walk down the adjacent street.
Within minutes about 8 Oakland Police cruisers went flying by from different directions towards this spot we just left.

As you can see in the video Oakland can go from fun, music and happiness to lockdown in the time it takes to walk to your car.
Craziness.
